Garbally Bank Now A Pillar Bank

The AIB Build a Bank Challenge has been up and running in Garbally College for the last few years and has proven to be a great success!  Each year Transition year students in Garbally set up their own School Bank and enter the National ‘Build a Bank’ competition with the help of their local AIB Bank in Ballinasloe.
The competition involves setting up and running our own school bank and project and competing against other schools from all around the country.  The School Bank has already been a huge success and their launch day on the 17th December and was attended by special guest Mr Gerry Kelly who is the CAO of Connacht Rugby,
AIB student officer Ms. Sally Anne Caulfield, principal of Garbally college  Mr. Seamus O’Brien, Transition Year co-ordinator Mr Paul Walsh and existing customers. Also present were photographers from local newspapers.
The School Bank team gives students the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of banking from sourcing new customers, to opening AIB student accounts, raising online awareness and they also encourage regular savings.  In short everything it takes to run a bank!
There are six members on the Garbally School Bank – Manager Eoin Moran, Assistant Manager Sean Deane, Sales and Marketing executive Ross McKeon, Auditor Jacob Walshe and Tellers Daire Curley and Padraic McHugh.
The Bank is open to all students during lunch time every Tuesday.  There has been positive feedback with student quick to avail of AIB products such as the newly designed bank link card, on line banking, savings accounts and the great raffles run by the school bank team.
So if you are a Garbally student, be sure to drop in and you might even be in with a chance to win.
