Remote Teaching – Special Class Garbally
Our students have a range of needs and abilities .They are generally working within the Level 1 and 2 Junior Cycle Curriculum. Some are also attending Mainstream classes.
Most of the students can access online learning with adult support. For these students Microsoft Teams will be used as the main forum for online learning. They will follow a comprehensive timetable ,closely aligned with their in-school timetable to include tasks that support their formal learning and wellbeing. These will be delivered by the class teachers who would normally work with these students within the school day.
For the small number of students who are unable to access online activities, a pack of practical activities has been provided with tasks that can be completed with adult support at home. They have been provided with a visual timetable to assist families in structuring the day. This timetable is aligned with their in-school timetable but has been adapted to enable families to structure the day to best suit specific individuals ,including tasks to develop independence and maintain self-regulation.
Class co-ordinators call families daily. SNAs call families once a week .The purpose of this call is to check on progress with learning, address any concerns as well as provide emotional support.
Families will also be directed to sources of online support and training.
Best Regards,
